Libertum vs Securitize

Securitize is a tokenization and investment company whose group states it operates an SEC-registered broker-dealer, an ATS and a transfer agent, plus fund administration. Libertum sells white-label tokenization software (T-Suite) with published pricing across EVM, Cardano and XRPL, and holds an El Salvador DASP licence. Neither is a substitute for the other’s regulated services.

Where Libertum stands out vs Securitize

Securitize’s group states that it operates an SEC-registered broker-dealer with an ATS, an SEC-registered transfer agent and a CNMV-authorised investment firm in the EU — securities businesses that Libertum does not run. Libertum stands out elsewhere: regulated digital-asset entities, custody built into the platform, no network fees for investors at checkout, and self-serve tools to raise capital under your own brand.

What is Securitize?

Securitize describes itself as a tokenization platform for asset managers, institutions and investors. According to its website it was founded in 2017 by Carlos Domingo and Jamie Finn. It offers tokenization as a service for funds and securities, fund administration through Securitize Fund Services, and investor access to tokenized private funds, public stocks and alternative assets.

On regulation, its website states that Securitize Markets, LLC is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and FINRA/SIPC member that operates an alternative trading system (ATS), and that Securitize was the first SEC-registered transfer agent operating with digital asset securities. In the EU, it states that Securitize Europe Brokerage and Markets, S.V., S.A. is a Spanish investment firm authorised and supervised by the CNMV (registration number 327), and that it operates a DLT Pilot Regime trading and settlement system.

What is Libertum?

Libertum is a tokenization software company. Its platform, T-Suite, lets issuers and asset managers create, offer and manage tokens on EVM networks, Cardano and the XRP Ledger, under their own brand on the plans that include the white-label platform.

Optional add-ons cover investor distribution (Distribution Hub and Libby AI), document preparation (Structuring, Beta), fund administration software (Funds) and stablecoins (Stablecoin Studio). Pricing is published on the plan page, which is authoritative.

Libertum, S.A. de C.V. holds an El Salvador Digital Asset Service Provider (DASP) licence from the CNAD, registry entry PSAD-0094. It covers custody, exchange and transfer of USDT and USDC and receipt and transmission of client orders, has effect in El Salvador only, and does not authorise issuance. Libertum is not a broker-dealer, an alternative trading system or a transfer agent of record. Every offering also receives a publicly verifiable Smart Contract Certificate, which is Libertum’s own technology certificate, not a regulatory approval.

Securitize’s regulated services (broker-dealer, ATS, transfer agent, fund administration) have no equivalent at Libertum. Libertum is software plus an El Salvador DASP licence.

Which should you choose?

The two companies solve different problems, so the right choice depends on what you need a provider to be, not only what software it runs.

  • Securitize is likely the better fit if you need a regulated US broker-dealer, ATS or SEC-registered transfer agent, an EU-authorised investment firm, or a full fund administrator for a tokenized fund.
  • Securitize is also likely the better fit if you want access to its existing investor base and on-chain market integrations.
  • Libertum is likely the better fit if you want to run your own branded tokenization platform with published, self-serve pricing and keep your own regulatory arrangements with your counsel.
  • Libertum is likely the better fit if you need Cardano or XRP Ledger issuance alongside EVM, or an investor CRM (Distribution Hub) in the same product.
  • If you are a fund administrator rather than an issuer, compare Securitize Fund Services with Libertum Funds: Funds is software for administrators, and the administrator stays NAV calculation agent and transfer agent.

Can I move an existing token to Libertum?

Libertum’s Token Import brings an existing token into T-Suite. On supported EVM networks it accepts ERC-3643, ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens; Cardano and XRP Ledger tokens can be imported read-only. Every import starts as Mirror: a read-only cap table and history, with no ability to move, mint or freeze anything. For an EVM token, the issuer can then move to Operate by granting Libertum the roles shown in the app, or by handing control to their organisation’s custodian wallet. Whether a specific token qualifies depends on its contract and network, so we check it with you first.

Securitize does not state its token standard on the pages we reviewed, so we cannot say in advance whether a Securitize-issued token can be imported; it would depend on that token’s contract, and the transfer-agent arrangements around it are a separate legal question for the issuer and its counsel.

Watch: importing an existing token

A short T-Suite demo of Token Import: the token arrives read-only as Mirror, and an EVM token can then move to Operate.

Already issued a token elsewhere? Bring it with you.

Switching platforms usually means a migration, a re-issue and a holder spreadsheet.

Imported tokens lists everything you've brought in, on EVM chains and the XRP Ledger.

Pick the network, paste the contract, and Libertum reads the standard, name and supply from the chain.

Prove control: your on-chain role is found, you sign one message, and nothing on the contract changes.

Name the offering and import it.

The history is rebuilt from the chain and checked against it. The cap table is live.

Every transfer is in the journal, with pre-import entries marked external.

Investors claim their holdings: Anna signs once from her wallet, and her tokens never move.

The holding appears in her statements, read from the chain.

Your contracts stay yours. Libertum starts read-only and lists the roles to grant.

On EVM, grant them from your wallet and the token moves to Operate: issue, freeze, register identities, list for sale.

XRP Ledger and Cardano tokens import read-only, and history that can't be rebuilt is flagged.

For issuers and fund administrators: bring your tokens, and run them in one place. Book a demo at libertum.io.

Frequently asked questions

Is Libertum a broker-dealer or transfer agent like Securitize?

No. Libertum is not a broker-dealer, an alternative trading system or a transfer agent of record. Securitize states that its group includes an SEC-registered broker-dealer operating an ATS and an SEC-registered transfer agent. Libertum, S.A. de C.V. holds an El Salvador DASP licence (PSAD-0094) for USDT and USDC services, with effect in El Salvador only.

Which is cheaper, Libertum or Securitize?

We cannot compare them on public information. Libertum publishes its plans (from $299 a month) and transaction fees on its plan page. Securitize publishes an investor fee schedule but does not state issuer pricing on its public website.

Do both enforce compliance on-chain?

Securitize states that transfer restrictions are enforced via smart contracts. On Libertum, compliance is enforced in the token with ERC-3643, CIP-113 and XRPL authorised assets; ERC-20, ERC-721 and CIP-20 tokens do not enforce it in the token.

Can investors trade tokens on the secondary market?

Securitize states it operates an ATS through its broker-dealer and supports whitelisted P2P transfers. On Libertum, the P2P order book is live on Base mainnet only.

Does Libertum offer fund administration?

No. Libertum Funds is software that fund administrators use; the administrator remains NAV calculation agent and transfer agent. Securitize states it provides fund administration through Securitize Fund Services.

Which offers built-in investor wallets and sponsored gas, Libertum or Securitize?

Libertum includes platform-managed custodian wallets for investors and issuers on EVM networks, Cardano and the XRP Ledger (enabled per deployment), and investors pay no network fees at custodian checkout: gas is sponsored and billed to the offering’s issuer. For Securitize, built-in investor wallets and sponsored gas are not publicly stated on the pages we reviewed.

Can I reach investors on other platforms with Libertum?

Yes. Through the Ecosystem Directory, an issuer can ask other Libertum-powered marketplaces to host its approved offering; once a host accepts, that platform’s investors can invest through the same token and cap table. Distribution Hub and Libby AI add an investor CRM and AI investor discovery.

Has Libertum's platform been independently security tested?

Independently penetration tested and audited by Hashlock — rated ‘Secure’ (Oct 2025 blackbox penetration test of the T-Suite web applications; no critical or high-severity findings), plus Hashlock smart-contract audits. See the audits and the penetration-test report. More on our security page.
